If you are looking for a company in Canada to build an AI agent, an LLM integration or a machine learning system for you, these ten studios are a reasonable shortlist: Architech, Euristiq, 247 Labs and RootQuotient in Toronto; Two Tall Totems in Vancouver; Osedea in Montréal; Mirego in Québec City; Spiria across Ottawa, Montréal and Toronto; Robots & Pencils out of Calgary; and Autor, which is us. They are listed by city, not ranked, because the right one depends on your problem far more than on any score.
Disclosure: this page is published by Autor Technologies, one of the ten studios below. We have tried to write it so that it is still useful if you hire someone else, and we say plainly where another studio is the better fit.
How we built this list
- Date: researched and published 5 November 2026.
- Who qualifies: studios that build custom AI software for clients and are based in Canada. We left out SaaS product companies, large management consultancies and pure research labs.
- Sources: every fact below comes from the company's own website, linked inline. Where a company does not publish something, we write "not published" rather than guess. We did not use paid placement, and nobody on this list was asked to approve their entry.
- What we dropped: firms whose Canadian headquarters we could not confirm from their own site, firms where AI is a passing mention, and firms that have been acquired or merged. We also have a separate comparison of AI development studios in Toronto with review counts from Clutch and GoodFirms.

Toronto
Architech says it has delivered more than 500 projects over 22 years, and it is one of only three studios here that publishes prices on its own site: builds start at $9,900 CAD, most land between $50k and $150k, and retainers start at $2,500 a month (pricing). Industries named include logistics, financial services, healthcare and legal. If you want a number before the first call, start here.
Euristiq calls itself an AI-native custom software company, founded in 2016 and headquartered in Toronto, with delivery teams in Warsaw and Lviv. It publishes proof-of-concept pricing of $15k–$60k USD (pricing), offers Canadian data residency on AWS's Montréal and Calgary regions, and says Ryanair has kept building with it since 2017. Worth knowing up front: most of the engineering happens in Europe.
247 Labs lists governed AI agents, generative AI and LLM development among its services, across e-commerce, healthcare, insurance, fintech and logistics. Its best-known public case is a scheduling app for Co-op Cabs and the TTC handling over 20,000 weekly trips (about). Its founding date is unclear from its own pages.
RootQuotient was founded in 2019 in Toronto and Chennai by a team of 13, and describes copilots, retrieval-augmented generation, agent workflows, computer vision and MLOps on its homepage. Delivery is split between the two cities.
Autor (us). We are a Toronto studio at 401 Bay Street, founded in 2021. We build AI agents, LLM integrations into CRMs and internal systems, 2–4 week prototypes and full AI products, with senior engineers only and no offshore handoffs. We have shipped 50+ AI products used by 5M+ people in 10+ countries, we publish our rates ($75–150/hr) on how we work, and we build and run our own product, Loquent (getloquent.com), an AI workforce that lets small businesses hire AI employees by role. The honest mark against us: we are newer than most studios here and have fewer published third-party reviews, so if a long public track record matters most, several firms on this list beat us on it.
Vancouver
Two Tall Totems (TTT Studios) has been Canadian owned and operated since 2010, from downtown Vancouver. It describes integrated AI systems, machine learning and data analytics, with work in transportation, retail, energy, defence and education, including an AI-powered intelligence engine for operational mining data. The strongest West Coast option on this list for industrial and resource data.
Montréal and Québec City
Osedea in Montréal goes further into physical-world AI than anyone else here: computer vision, robotics and agentic RAG, including an autonomous robot project in the Montréal metro for the STM and Boston Dynamics Spot work in aluminum smelting. It has also published work on predicting wildfire and weather threats at clean energy sites. If your problem involves sensors, cameras or machines, start here.
Mirego is based in Québec City and Montréal and is part of Premier Tech Digital. Named clients include the Montréal Canadiens, Golf Canada and Air Transat, and on 5 June 2026 it launched Forra, an enterprise AI platform that began as an internal Premier Tech tool. A good fit if you want a studio that also ships its own AI platform at enterprise scale.
Ottawa
Spiria began in 2003 and says it has over 150 people across Canada, with offices in Gatineau–Ottawa, Montréal and Toronto–Oakville. It describes taking applied AI to production and governing agentic AI, and works in defence, insurance, finance, legal and health. The longest-established studio here, and the most relevant if you sell into defence or government.
Calgary
Robots & Pencils started in 2009 and now calls itself an applied AI engineering partner, all in on AWS for generative and agentic AI (Amazon Bedrock and Bedrock AgentCore). It has offices in Calgary, Toronto, Bogotá and Lviv; its site does not name a headquarters. If your stack is already on AWS, this is the most AWS-committed studio here.
Which one fits your problem
| If you need… | Start with |

| A price before the first call | Architech or Euristiq — both publish pricing. We publish an hourly range. |
| AI that touches cameras, robots or sensors | Osedea |
| Defence, government or regulated insurance work | Spiria |
| An AWS-native agent build | Robots & Pencils |
| A partner with a long public track record | Spiria, Architech or Two Tall Totems |
| Canadian data residency with lower-cost delivery | Euristiq — but most engineering is done in Europe |
| Senior engineers in Toronto on a small or mid-size AI agent build | Autor (us) |
Before you sign with anyone, ask the same questions of every studio on this list, including us. We published the ones we would ask in How to evaluate an AI development studio: 8 questions. The three that matter most: who will actually write the code, what happens when the model vendor changes something underneath you, and who maintains the system after launch.
FAQ
What are the top AI development companies in Canada? Ten studios that build custom AI for clients and publish enough about themselves to compare: Architech, Euristiq, 247 Labs, RootQuotient and Autor in Toronto; Two Tall Totems in Vancouver; Osedea in Montréal; Mirego in Québec City; Spiria in Ottawa; and Robots & Pencils in Calgary. The best one depends on your problem: hardware and vision, enterprise data, AWS-native agents or a small-business agent build.
How much does it cost to hire an AI development company in Canada? Few studios publish prices. Of the ten here, Architech publishes builds from $9,900 CAD with most between $50k and $150k, Euristiq publishes proofs of concept at $15k–$60k USD, and we publish $75–150/hr. Everyone else quotes per project.
Is it better to hire a Canadian AI development company? It matters most when your data has to stay in Canada (PIPEDA, or PHIPA for health data in Ontario), when you want engineers in your time zone, or when you sell to Canadian government buyers. Ask any studio where your data will be hosted and where the engineers actually sit — several firms on this list deliver mostly from outside Canada.
What is the difference between an AI development studio and an AI agency? A development studio writes and maintains custom software: the agent, the integrations and the infrastructure underneath. An agency more often configures existing tools or no-code platforms. If your process is standard, an off-the-shelf tool may be the better answer — we wrote about when to build and when to buy.
How long does it take to build a custom AI agent? For a focused agent that does one job well, a working prototype typically takes 2–4 weeks and a production version a few months. We break the steps down in how to build an AI agent for your business.
